Weekly Roundup: Manchester Meetings & Tech Events 4/30/17 - 5/6/17

It's National Small Business Week!

I'm not sure if this falls under the category of sad or scary, but next week is National Small Business Week and I only found two business events that don't normally show up on the weekly or monthly schedule, and they're both on Tuesday. So I thought I'd share an event for next month that will be featuring a small, local startup that made it big.

And when I say big, I mean really big. As in the biggest player in global internet performance strategies.

I'm talking about Dyn.

Dyn is the stuff of legends.

It's a classic dorm room to the boardroom tale that started with a school project and ended with a $600 million acquisition.

For those not familiar with the Dyn story, Jeremy Hitchcock, Tom Daly, Tim Wilde and Chris Reinhardt were Worcester Polytech (WPI) students who took a school project and grew it to become a worldwide industry leader. They also put Manchester, New Hampshire on the map as a future tech center.

With their success, the graying state of New Hampshire suddenly had relevence in a world powered by youth and technology.

Even if you're not a tech and don't understand what Dyn does, you probably realize that Dyn's success brought hope and new life to our statewide economy.

Which brings me to next month's event.

The Exit Planning Exchange will be hosting a panel discussion on Tuesday, May 23rd from 7:30 AM - 9:30 AM at SNHU featuring Dyn's key players including Jeremy Hitchcock, Tom Daly, Tim Wilde, Chris Reinhardt, Kyle York, and Dave Allen. The discussion will be moderated by Gerri King, Ph.D., President, Human Dynamics Associates and will focus on how a company that started as a school project grew to become a world tech leader, the recent aquisition by Oracle, and future plans.

Wrap Up

After a month of slowly rolling it out a little bit at a time, the NH Business Directory is officially here.To be honest, I am so excited about this service that I don't know what to say. (Never saw that coming, did you?)

I guess if I was going to sum it up I'd say Queen City Buzz is already the go-to source for business information and resources in the Granite State, so why not put your business in front of the fastest growing NH audience?

I haven't finished moving all of the listings to the new database, but it's still worth taking a look. You can find the directory at NHBusinessDirectory.com or just click the link from the Queen City Buzz menu at the top of this page.

And finally, I'd like to share a tasty tidbit, and I mean that literally, that I got from Sarah Coletti, at Uno Pizzeria & Grill.

Not only does Uno do catering, but they will deliver to events in Manchester. Who knew? Even better, they also have a fundraising program to help you raise money for your favorite charity. This is this a great way to raise awareness for some of the smaller, local charities that don't have big marketing budgets and hosting one of these events is also an awesome opportunity to show that your small business is an active part of the community. If you'd like more information about the Uno Pizzeria catering or fundraising programs, send me an email to buzz@queencity.buzz with the subject line Uno Pizzeria and I will put you in touch with Sarah.

Have a great week people! Don't forget Coffee Buzz 9:00 AM on Monday!
