Contributor Guidelines

All work must be original content by the author/artist. The author/artist retains ownership of their content, but submission to Queen City Buzz grants us the right to publish and distribute the work on QueenCity.Buzz and our associated social media accounts.

Plagiarism will not be tolerated!

We understand that many people have similar ideas and experiences but we will not tolerate plagiarism:

  • word-for-word copy and submission of someone else's work
  • stealing original ideas or content and presenting it as your own
  • we are totally serious about this -- even stock art must have an attribution!

Terms of Acceptance

All work is accepted on "spec," which means that we reserve the right to review your piece before we accept it for publication. Queen City Buzz also retains editorial rights and may request changes to your article/artwork before publishing content.

All articles and graphics content should feature useful, professional content from an original point of view. All content should be informational, contain citations and be easy to read for a fast-paced web audience.

A typical Queen City Buzz article is about 800 words, but we will consider shorter or longer pieces.

While this is a blog, we try to adhere to a neutral journalistic standard rather than unsupported first-person opinions. With rare exceptions, contributor articles should contain at least two quotes/citations with footnotes and/or links to where the supporting data can be found.

Blogs thrive on infographics, cartoons and similar graphics and we welcome your original artwork submission.

Submission format should be jpg, png or svg with files optimized for the web.

Articles and graphics should support the idea of starting and growing a business as an entrepreneur, small business owner or freelancer in southern New Hampshire with an emphasis on the Manchester metro area. Typical articles would share information about overcoming business challenges found here in New Hampshire, general business management, sales and marketing, technology and any topic that would be of interest to a local freelancer or business owner. Whenever possible general business topics should include a local slant.

This is a community project and we do not currently pay for content. In return for your content, Queen City Buzz will provide a short bio including a link back to your website and/or links and mentions on social media.

Note: Your linked website may not contain any adult, illegal, or controversial content. If the editor deems your website not acceptable we will gladly link back to your LinkedIn or other mutually agreeable professional social media page.

How to Submit a Pitch

We request that all contributors complete and submit the Contributor Contact Form. Please be sure to include specific information about your article idea including a sample paragraph and links to any other work as well as an email address or phone number to contact you.

Queen City Buzz is a side project meant to support the local business community, not my full-time job. I will try to respond to submissions within two business days but offer no guarantee. If you submit an article idea and do not hear back from me within 72 hours please send me an email

NOTE: While I routinely post to social media, I typically schedule posts in advance through Hootsuite and do not necessarily log into social media more than once a day.  If you want a timely response, please use the contact form or send an email rather than messaging on Facebook, Twitter, or LinkedIn.
